Fairhope Art Show

April 29, 2021

I am so excited to bring my artwork to the Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival this weekend!

My newest collection of work is called “Shades of Spring,” a nod to the multitude of emotions we’re all feeling as we come out of the strangest, most difficult year.⁣

I remember how, last spring, I'd walk outside every night to watch the sunset—just so I could experience some glimmer of hope that the world was still okay, that the world was still beautiful…it was just changing.

I remember savoring the little things like feeling the wind in my hair on long car drives and watching the embers of our small backyard fire flicker on those chilly spring nights.

One year later, I'm thankful for modern medicine and our slow return to life as we knew it before, but I'm also reminiscing. I'm thinking about the lessons and the loss and how some things won't ever be the same. But that's OK. We went through a hard winter. A beautiful spring is just around the corner.

This collection of paintings is inspired by grounding and the beauty of coming out on the other side of a storm.

The colors are varied, because the emotions are varied—hope, heartache, nostalgia, gratitude, awe. They are all shades of spring, a time when we have been cracked open and made new.

Fresh Start, 36x36 inches, acrylic on canvas, available

Large purple and green abstract painting

Daybreak, 30x40 inches, acrylic on canvas, available

I hope these paintings remind you to stop, look up at the sky, put your feet in the grass, take a deep breath, and remember the the world is all okay. You are okay. There is beauty even in the raw becoming.
