The Beauty of Provence

The one thing you should do if you go to Provence? Go to a market. 🥖🍓🍇

It goes like this: You wake up, birds chirping and breeze blowing through your open window, and you sloooowly make your way to breakfast—a gracious spread of homemade jam, freshly baked bread, and the juiciest, sweetest peaches, all hand-selected by your host at yesterday’s market. (Yes, there are markets EVERY DAY in Provence.)

So, you savor the peaches, try not to get too many bread crumbs on your clothes, and then you go to market...thinking you’ll probably get more peaches.

Instead, you leave with three baskets of berries, three blocks of artisanal cheese, three bags of spiced olives, two baguettes, a bowl of roasted potatoes, a whole baked chicken, a serving of pâté, and a bundle of lavender. When in France, no? 🤷🏻‍♀️

The inspiration for this little landscape came from a photo I took while leaving said market in Gordes. The light was absolutely heavenly!
