This painting is inspired by a mountainous drive between Provence and the Alps of Chamonix. While driving, we crested a mountain, turned a curve, and this vista was upon us—misty mountains extending for miles upon miles. It was one of the most beautiful, surprising, and unforgettable moments of our trip.
